Lunch & Learns

First, thank you for your interest in hosting a Lunch and Learn at UTSD. We appreciate vendors taking the time and effort to come. We ask all vendors to complete the sponsorship form below prior to scheduling their Lunch and Learn. This form includes a description and objective for the Lunch and Learn. We also request three possible dates, at least two weeks out. The email description for audience is used to advertise the lunch to students. Once your application is submitted, the administration will have to approve it. Please note that a submitted application does not guarantee a Lunch and Learn. Keep in mind that the focus of Lunch and Learns is to educate and inform students, not for companies to solicit their products or services.

Once your application has been approved, ASDA will confirm your date and advertising to dental students via email and social media.

What students will be attending the Lunch and Learns?

We invite all of the dental classes 1st (~100 students), 2nd (~100 students), 3rd (~100 students), and 4th (~100 students). The rooms hold from 100-135 students, so attendance is first come first serve. However, if you would prefer a certain class year to attend, we will accommodate for your request. Please be aware that 3rd and 4th years will have to leave by 12:35 to set up for clinic, and generally it is challenging to achieve attendance from the upper classes.

FAQ

How long will it be before I know if my company is approved?

  • The school can take anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks to notify the ASDA officers on whether or not the lunch and learn was approved.

What time is the Lunch and Learn?

  • It is during our school’s lunch hour, which is from 12:00-12:50.

When could I start setting up the room? What do I need to bring?

  • Typically, you can begin setting up 30 minutes prior, as long as there is not a class in session before. If there is a class in session, then set up will begin promptly at 11:50AM. We recommend arriving 30 minutes prior to your presentation. In addition, we ask that presenters have their presentation in their email because the school does not allow flash drives to be plugged into the computers.

What students will be attending the Lunch and Learns?

  • We invite all of the dental classes 1st (~100 students), 2nd (~100 students), 3rd (~85 students), and 4th (~85 students). The room holds approximately 135 students, so it is first come first serve. However, if you would prefer a certain class year to attend, we will accommodate for your request. Please be aware that 3rd and 4th years will have to leave by 12:35 to set up for clinic. Also, in the spring semester, 1st years will be off campus on Wednesdays and Fridays. Please plan accordingly.

Once approved for the Lunch and Learn, where do I send the payment?

  • Once approved, the events coordinator will inform you of the payment process.

Does the payment need to be made before the Lunch and Learn?

  • Yes.

What if I do not get approved for the Lunch and Learn?

  • You can reply and change the description and objective that was submitted, and we will resubmit the request form.

What am I allowed to bring with me to the lunch and learn?

  • Any paper handouts is fine to bring with you, but if you would like to bring anything else please check with the lunch and learn coordinator.
